Growth of Quality of Life
With one of the highest per capita incomes in the state, service and retail industries are needed to provide the quality of life that Kendall County citizens have come to expect.
KCEDC is seeking retail and service industries to expand in our area. The nearest major shopping center is located in San Antonio, approximately a 20 minutes drive from Boerne and about 40 minutes for Comfort residents.
Kendall County has experienced strong population growth since 2000. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates Kendall County is now home to roughly 32,000 residents, a growth rate of 19 percent over the past seven years. Over this same period, Boerne has grown even faster. Boerne's population now stands at approximately 9,200 residents. The city has grown 44 percent since 2000. It is estimated by 2025 Kendall County will grow by an additional 15,000 to 30,000 residents, this is partially due to the Esperanza Development that will be built on Hwy 46 in Boerne.
